SUMMARY: The story of "Cinderella' follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new Stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drizella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.
Soon, she is forced to become their servant, disrespected, covered in ashes and spitefully renamed Cinderella. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her, and she continues to remain positive, determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.”
When Ella meets a dashing stranger in the woods, unaware that he is really the Prince (Richard Madden) and not merely Kit, an apprentice at the palace, she believes she has finally found a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the King (Derek Jacobi) summons all maidens in the kingdom to attend a royal ball at the palace, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit. Alas, her Stepmother forbids her to attend and callously destroys her dress.
Meanwhile, the calculating Grand Duke (Stellan Skarsgård) devises a plan to thwart the Prince’s hopes of reuniting with Ella and enlists the support of the devious Stepmother. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand. Soon, a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin, a few mice and a magic wand, changes Cinderella’s life forever.

REVIEWS: Such a great creation of bringing a annotated classic to life. Allows girls to feel romance, feelings and most of all dream.
I'm a young girl at heart and this film really cheered me up on a sad day. It has enough content to warm the soul and shed a tear or two, even at my ripe age of 29!
Well done to the director! The detail in the graphics brought the old classic to life. The film fitted so snug without stealing childhood memories. A total must see for any devoted Disney fan.
Some reviews suggest remaking the classics is dull, I argue that view as I love nothing more than seeing our digitally enhanced techniques we now have at this ray of age can really put a 'spell' on old favorites.

San Andreas (2015)

SUMMARY: After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning, and when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.

REVIEWS: Chief Raymond 'Ray' Gaines (Johnson) is a Los Angeles Fire Department helicopter-rescue pilot. Recently divorced from his estranged wife Emma (Gugino), he calls his daughter Blake (Daddario) to talk about their upcoming trip to San Francisco. Meanwhile, Caltech seismologist Lawrence Hayes (Giamatti) and his colleague Dr. Kim Park (Will Yun Lee) are at the Hoover Dam when an unknown fault nearby ruptures, triggering a massive earthquake which collapses the dam, killing Park in the process. After Ray is called into work, Blake reluctantly decides to go with her mother Emma's new boyfriend Daniel Riddick (Gruffudd).
Hayes discovers that the San Andreas Fault is starting to shift, causing a massive 9.1 earthquake that starts ripping apart major cities along the fault line. At the same time, Emma is having lunch with Daniel's sister Susan (Minogue) in a highrise restaurant when the quake hits Los Angeles, destroying much of the city with Susan among its heavy casualties. Ray is able to save Emma, and they barely escape the city on his helicopter. Much of California becomes affected by the quake. In San Francisco, Blake and Daniel are trapped in their car on the basement of the latter's office. Daniel leaves her to call for help, but he flees in terror, leaving her behind. Blake is saved by Ben (Johnstone-Burt) and Ollie (Parkinson), two brothers that Blake had met moments before the earthquake. After calling her parents, Ray and Emma quickly fly up north to save her.
When enroute, the engine in Ray's helicopter fails, causing him and Emma to make an emergency landing in nearby Bakersfield. After obtaining a vehicle, they drive out until they reach the now opened-up San Andreas Fault. They find an old couple who happen to own an airplane, who end up giving Ray and Emma their plane in exchange for their vehicle. Meanwhile, Blake, Ben and Ollie tries to find a spot in the city where Ray and Emma can save them; seeing that their planned rendezvous point, Coit Tower, is already engulfed by flames. With help from news reporter Serena (Panjabi), Hayes is able to warn others of a much more bigger earthquake in San Francisco, just in time before it hits; becoming the largest earthquake ever in history, recorded as a 9.6.
Ray and Emma eventually make it to San Francisco, just as the aftershocks continue to destroy the city. They commandeer a boat and notice that a tsunami is about to hit the city. Along with other evacuees with boats of their own, they are able to get over the incoming wave near the Golden Gate Bridge. Daniel, who is on the bridge, is killed when a cargo ship slices the bridge in half, crushing him. The tsunami floods the city, killing many more people and collapsing several buildings. Blake, Ben, and Ollie manage to run into Daniel's unfinished building moments before the water hits. They move up floors and manage to signal Ray and Emma, who are searching nearby for Blake. But before they can save them, the building starts sinking into the ground, causing the floor Blake, Ben, and Ollie are on to flood with water. Ben and Ollie are able to escape, but Blake apparently drowns even as Ray manages to get her out. Emma crashes the boat into the building and rescues everyone and they escape before the building completely collapses. Once in the clear, Ray is able to revive Blake through CPR. The five make it to a relief camp in Marin County. The now reconciled Ray and Emma, along with Blake, Ben, and Ollie, talk about their future as the sun slowly sets on what's left of the Bay Area.

REVIEWS: When I saw better than expected, I knew it would be good. But it was better than good, it was great.
Very witty, sexy movie. Take the humour of Sherlock (with Robert Downey Jr. & Jude law) and stick it in a bond movie- then you have The man from U.N.C.L.E. - I like bond movies, but I LOVED the man from uncle. It doesn't get boring, or drop at any point.
If you've read anything negative from critics Don't listen to what critics have to say, they don't like any kind of movie if it's not based on a true story.
It's certainly worth the price of admission, you'll be glad you saw it. I'm honestly hoping a second will be made.

SUMMARY: When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan, and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it's up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.

REVIEWS: R13 February 2015 Film of Choice at The Plaza Dorchester This Afternoon - Shaun The Sheep. I would just like to point out that I was the only adult there without a child.....or maybe I was the only child without an adult!!!!!! Nick Park and his team have done it again. This was classic Aardman animation, with our old pal Shaun. Bored with his mundane life Shaun and his sheepy friends engineer a way to have a day off but all goes drastically wrong when the farmer ends up in the big city with memory loss. It's up to the animals to save him and what follows is a madcap series of events where nobody questions sheep dressed as humans or any of the antics that occur. Completely without dialogue the story is carried along by the excellent score and gesticulations and a gaggle of bleats, grunts and other indiscriminate noises. As we know animation these days caters for all ages and with various movie references included the adults were definitely laughing at different times to the children. Watching some good old stop motion animation is a very pleasant way to pass the time.

Trainwreck (2015)

SUMMARY: Schumer also wrote the script which is inspired from some of her real-life experiences as she plays a commitment-averse woman trying to get past her self-sabotaging ways.

REVIEWS: Firstly this is an enjoyable film with a good cast and funny and light hearted so good for when you're in the mood for that. It reminds me a bit on Spy in a way as it's in the opposite direction as Spy starts off with the main character being all nice and pretty boring and progressively gets funnier as Melissa McCartney starts getting her mouth on and confident. Trainwreck is the opposite in that it starts with Amy Schumer in character form, foul mouthed and sassy and progresses to an ending that's pretty at odds with that. Maybe the journeys nice however rather than exploring anything interesting with some of the great characters in the movie it hurtles towards RomCom and ends in a whimper what started with a roar. Not bad, but not Bridesmaids which balanced great left-field laughs with warm cuddly message at the same time. You will know, yes you will know the moment the line was crossed in Trainwreck, into RanDom.

REVIEWS: You need to like sci-fi movies that are silly, like Spaceballs or Galaxy Quest to appreciate this movie. We laughed the whole time. If you are one of those people who like movies like that, you will love this movie. I would not drag your average non-sci-fi person to this movie. They just won't get it. I am not sure if people who did not grow up in the 80's will get it either, possibly? There were a lot of pop-culture references from that era and that made it all the more funny. The cameos were great and the actors chose to play in the movie were great and great together. I love Adam Sandler, and Peter Dinklage was by far the funniest character in the whole movie. I loved it!

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)

SUMMARY: Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate – an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.

REVIEWS: I don't care what Tom Cruise's religious beliefs are. I don't care if he acted like a pork chop on Oprah. I don't care if the tabloids love to hate him. The Cruiser is a one-of-a-kind megastar responsible for a consistently excellent output of work since the eighties. Back for his fifth impossible mission at the spritely age of 53, he's showing no signs of slowing down either. The ridiculous pre-credits aircraft stunt, where Cruise hangs on to the side of an Airbus A400 whilst it takes off, attests to that. There's also a thrilling car-and-motorbike sequence (bringing back memories of the awesome Bourne Supremacy car chase) that sees Cruise commit to most of the high-speed driving/riding himself. It's this willingness to go above and beyond, as well as a preference of practical effects over CGI, which imbues Rogue Nation with nail biting tension and non-stop exhilaration. Not as stylish as J.J. Abrams (M:I3) or Brad Bird (M:I4), writer-director Christopher McQuarrie brings a hard-hitting brutality to the screen instead, arguably delivering the most violent entry in the franchise. McQuarrie's script is suitably meaty too, giving the cast plenty to chew on when not performing death defying acts, pummelling each other without remorse or manoeuvring in an assassination showdown. Cruise is reliably sensational as top dog and newcomers Rebecca Ferguson and Sean Harris are fantastic as, respectively, the femme fatale and unrelenting villain, but Jeremy Renner looks bored and Simon Pegg overeggs it on occasion. With ballsy action scenes that pack a punch and a gritty story to keep you excited, this is definitely worth forking out your hard earned to experience on the big screen.

Billy Hope seemingly has it all with an impressive career, a beautiful and loving wife (Rachel McAdams), an adorable daughter (Oona Laurence) and a lavish lifestyle. When tragedy strikes and his lifelong manager and friend (Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) leaves him behind, Hope hits rock bottom and turns to an unlikely savior at a run-down local gym: Tick Willis (Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker), a retired fighter and trainer to the city's toughest amateur boxers. With his future riding on Tick's guidance and tenacity, Billy enters the hardest battle of his life as he struggles with redemption and to win back the trust of those he loves.

REVIEWS: Antoine Fuqua takes the best of other movies and makes them his own. Southpaw follows in the footsteps of classic boxing movies like Rocky, The Fighter and Warrior with its meaty, sensational fights, and The Shawshank Redemption and The Pursuit of Happiness, for making redemption its focal point. Jake Gyllenhaal seizes to amaze, outshining his work in Nightcrawler and Enemy. He's put himself through physical trauma to entertain at the highest level. Southpaw's an emotional journey, at its lowest when prestigious boxer Billy Hope (Gyllenhaal) loses his wife and the custody of his daughter. The shooting of Maureen Hope (Rachel McAdams) is one of the most terrifyingly real death in cinema history. Feelings run riot and a good deal of squirming in our seats transpires. Gyllenhaal's bulky frame, impressionable acting and connection with youngster Oona Laurence is mesmerising. The mid-section of Southpaw sees Hope fighting battles outside the ring, for his daughter by his side and to rid himself of the guilt he carries. Fuqua has upped the sentimentality, making Southpaw his most engaging film since Training Day. The ending dips in form into the pit when Billy makes his grand comeback, but this doesn't matter too much, as Hope, and Gyllenhaal for that matter, are mainly winners outside the ring.

REVIEWS: You don't need to watch the first three Cicak-man films to understand the plot (For I myself did watch these 3 but it faded in my memory like dust). They reset the movie to a new character, a new era, and a new direction. The filmmakers sought to bring a gritty, added realism into the film which Cicak-man lacks (its a satire spoof, come on). What they bring us is a story of a troubled father on the verge of divorce and he was given the chance to prove himself as he became the new Ant-guy.
The fight scene choreography doesn't seem to pack enough wow factor. All I get is the character is fighting and that's that. At least its clear to me but it lacks the rhythm, rhythm as in the ones like you see in those old kung fu movies, this movie lacks it, its a poor cover the take act with the magic of edit but it just kills the rhythm. I'd expect more from it. The last fight scene was poorly done and recalls the Malaysian Cicakman franchise, suddenly he falls flat doom, only at the last minute he does his thing once again.
The picture was awful, and this was my biggest gripe when watching a film that supposed to be shot with a high end quality cameras. I noticed the shots are all completely devoid of noise, they de-noise the whole movie the picture looks waxy and awful quality. The lack of definition is marred by the softness and less sharp picture due to the de-noise filter. How bad it is on a big screen? It's like upscaling a 720p footage and they added a smooth filter. If it was shown on a TV screen it would be pleasing but for a feature film on a big screen, I'm sure Disney can do better at this. They did it well on their last few features.
The Visual Effects, in comparison to their old works, they leveled a lot, but the result isn't that great. I myself was a VFX artist and I know a great deal spent on this film. A lot of effect shots has a bad definition to make it blend, most of the green screen shots seemed obvious because the effect plates they use is of low resolution. I'm not sure whether its intentional but its like divisive in terms of style. Camera tracking was good, but the render wasn't really great. The lighting was wrong and the textures resolution was too low. They did a good job at wire removal at least, but the green screen key isn't good enough because the lack of definition of the picture. Shots were combined with blurry edges it doesn't seem interesting enough. The motion graphics are great, they even recreate the Cicak-Man UI which is good (not that great), Overall, this movie tried enough, but its disappointing, I rolled left and right in my cinema seat with a lot of huge breaths let down.

REVIEWS: My wife and I went to see this, we loved both Despicable Me's, and had high hopes for the movie. Thankfully, while it wasn't as good as either Despicable Me's, it was a good movie. It is very kid oriented, duh, so don't go thinking you're going to get an in-depth plot line. The minions are corny and their antics are as slapstick as they are in Despicable Me. While you would think that it would be difficult to relate to, due to them not speaking English, it's not a problem. They did a great job at making everything understandable through context, even for a small child. The biggest issue I had was in the form of Scarlet Overkill. I didn't care for the angle they chose to go with her. I'll leave it at that so I don't include any spoilers. If you have small children, they will love every minute of this movie. Minions is simple, fun, and safe for anyone!!!

REVIEWS: This movie is new generation of the beloved Vacation movies. Of course a 2015 comedy has to be cruder. It's funny more often than not. The Grand Canyon rafting scene is really laugh out loud.

Rusty is now a regional airline pilot. Ed Helms is competent if a bit old. Christina Applegate plays his wife. She is as always very likable and carries off the less funny parts with enough charm to make them bearable. The kids are okay too with the bullying thing. Chris Hemsworth is quite funny and well cast as Rusty's brother in law they drop in to visit on the way to Wally World. Ron Livingston is well cast as an obnoxious pilot. Beverly d'Angelo and a much heavier Chevy Chase make an appearance.

Overall liked the updating, it has enough homage to the older movies and shows the formula still works.

REVIEWS:This isn't a Mad Max film, it's a road trip film that focuses heavily on Charlize Theron's character, Furiousa. "Mad Max" appears, essentially, as a tag along side character. He does nothing "mad", risqué or extreme and has little more than 5 lines throughout the first two third's of the film. You could literally replace the character of "Mad Max" with any other supporting actor and it would not change the film. In fact, this film feels as though it was intended to be a Mad Max styled film called "Furious Furiousa" and they wanted to cash in on the franchise and avoid being accused of ripping off actual Mad Max films,

What this is is a piece of pro feminism garbage and one, like most, that completely misses the point of what gender equality is really about. All male characters, arguably with the exception of the 2 defectors, are portrayed as violent, oppressive warmongers, all clan leaders and all "warriors" are male and violent.

The women are the oppressed baby makers and between them, Theron and a rag tag female only clan of pensioners, it's only them who can bring about justice and save the planet.

Strong female characters are fine, and this worked for the first hour or so until they really forced the feminist angle. A strong female (or male, black, Asian, gay... for that matter) character should not be noticeable.

A film with a solid minority lead stands out as great film making not because they use a minority, but because the minority character works without you consciously noticing it. Alien, Tomb Raider, Flight Plan, Silence of the Lambs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Kill Bill, The Wizard of Oz.... all fantastic films without forcing gender bias on the audience. No one watches Rush Hour and thinks "hey, where's the white guy!?".

REVIEWS: I'm honestly not surprised one bit that I didn't enjoy this movie.The trailer was awful,and it was obvious the movie was only made for Fox to keep the rights to this piece of garbage. The main problem with this movie is that it tries so hard to be dark and gritty.The movie isn't gritty at all.Dark?Yes at some points,but not in a good way. Another problem with this abomination is it's pace.Oh my god,the pace of this movie is incredibly slow.I'm in disbelief I didn't fall asleep.Honestly,the films pace is so slow,it's hard to know what's going on at times due to how bored you are. Next is the acting.While I though young Miles Teller did decent,the other actors were awful.I honestly feel everyone,especially Kate Mara,was miscast.It seems to me as if every actor was bored,but hey so was the audience! Another problem is the villain.I don't have much to say about Doom,besides the fact that he was forced into the film for the sake of having a villain.He wasn't threatening for even a second;He was just a joke,like the film itself. Lastly,the film is a set up for films to come.It's obvious it is,so Fox can keep the rights.From rumors out there,it's trying to set up sequels,which is true,and it's trying to set itself up with the X-Men Franchise,which I hope not. Overall,the film was an atrocity,just like it's predecessors,and the only good thing was probably the CGI.Then again,it wasn't even that amazing.The CGI wasn't as good,as say,'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'or 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. My rating is a 2/10,and it'd be a 1/10 if the CGI was a tad bit worse.

The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

REVIEWS: Inside Out is the 15th feature film released by Pixar Animation Studios and continues the tradition of creating animated features that cater to multiple age groups by combining a vibrant, colorful and entertaining narrative that captivates kids while having a complex central theme that engages the adults. The film features young Riley from Minnesota who has five manifestations of her emotions in her mind - Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger. The emotions influence her and control her day to day decisions and memories . When Riley turns 11, the family moves to San Francisco which puts her in emotional turmoil as she is a shy kid and finds it difficult to cope with a new environment. The resulting scenario leads her and her emotions to learn the importance of Sadness in life.

The film received rave reviews on the back of stellar performances by the voice cast led by Amy Poehler as Joy and Phyllis Smith as Sadness. Phyllis shines with her convincing rendition of the meek Sadness. Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader as the remaining emotions also give strong performances. Director Pete Docter excels at paying attention to detail. For example Riley's controlling emotion is shown to be Joy whereas her father is controlled by Anger and her mother by Sadness. Docter also succeeds in his attempt to create a model of the mind which is flexible enough to serve the purpose of the story yet is well thought out and consistent enough to stand on its own. This was achieved through consultation with Paul Ekman, a well-known psychologist who studies emotions, and Dacher Keltner, a professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.

While the basic concept is strong, the story suffers from periods of inactivity and monotony. The film seems stretched and could have done without a few of the scenes that were left in by the director. The movie also has a disconnect with the younger section of the audience because unlike other Pixar movies, the light-hearted and downright funny moments are few and far between. The core element of the story is complex for kids watching and hence might not enjoy the movie as much as the adults that accompanying them.

The movie is a visual treat that leaves the audience with a smile on their face and a sense of fulfillment although with a little heavy handed editing the movie would have been even better.

REVIEWS:Genysis really does feel like the true 3rd film of the franchise. Arnold is back, and he really carries the weight of this film. He plays a more friendly terminator that ages throughout the film and makes the occasional joke. Emilia Clarke plays a strong Sarah Connor, reminiscent of T2. Jason Clarke plays the antagonist (as you can see in the trailer), but there is a deeper layer to it than what you can see on the surface. Jai Courtny isn't bad either as Kyle Reese.

The movie is a non-stop action ride, and kept my eyes glued to the screen at all times. There are a lot of terminator on terminator action scenes that are some of the best fight scenes of the franchise. The story takes places primarily in three different times, but its not too hard to follow if you pay attention. (even though some critics panned this aspect, it really isn't hard to get). There are plot twists that aren't in the trailers, so don't think they've spoiled everything for you.

Bottom line: If you liked the first two movies, you will like this one.
